Paul McCartney Shares His Grief Amid News of Former Bandmate’s Death

In the wake of the passing of a former bandmate, Paul McCartney is expressing his sadness.

The former member of the Beatles band paid a moving homage to Moody Blues vocalist Denny Laine on Instagram on Tuesday, Dec. 5. Laine passed away at the age of 79 following “health setbacks” related to interstitial lung disease. Laine performed with McCartney in his band, Wings.

He added, with a carousel of pictures of his pal, “I have many happy memories of my time with Denny, from the early days when The Beatles toured with the Moody Blues.” “Our two bands had a lot of respect for each other and a lot of fun together.”

McCartney also thought back on their 1971–1981 Wings years together.

“Denny signed on with Wings right away. He remembered that he was a great guitarist and singer.” He and I collaborated on a few songs, the most popular of which was ‘Mull of Kintyre,’ a huge hit in the 1970s. Although we had grown apart, we were able to reunite and reminisce about our past together in the last few years.”

Laine was a “great talent with a fine sense of humor,” according to McCartney’s letter, and he “was always ready to help other people.”

He concluded the homage by expressing his sympathies to Elizabeth, Laine’s wife, and family, who had shared the news of his passing on Facebook.

The Beatles vocalist penned, “Denny, peace, and love.” “Getting to know you was enjoyable. All of us will be missing you. Paul, with love.”
