She wrote, “My darling husband passed away peacefully early this morning,” at the beginning of her message on his page on Tuesday.

“I was playing his favorite Christmas music for him as I was at his bedside, holding his hand. Denny’s been singing Christmas songs for the previous few weeks, and I kept playing them last week when he was in the intensive care unit using a ventilator.

“We both thought he would bounce back from his health problems, go back to the rehab facility, and finally go home.

Regretfully, his Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) is an erratic and severe lung condition; every infection weakened and injured his lungs. He battled every day. He never complained and was quite courageous and strong.

“He just wanted to be at home, playing his gypsy guitar with me and his pet cat, Charley.”

Additionally, Ms. Hines noted that the public’s support “brought him to tears.”

“My world will never be the same,” she concluded. Denny was a truly lovely person who showed me so much love and kindness. Like him, he brought color, excitement, and vibrancy to my days.

“I appreciate your love for me, our friendship, our great times together, and your request to become your wife. Thank you, darling. I shall always love you.
