Wiawso College of Education, a renowned institution dedicated to the field of education, reached a momentous milestone as it celebrated the graduation of its first-ever batch of students from the Bachelor of Education program.
The achievement marks a significant step forward for the college and highlights its commitment to producing highly skilled and competent educators.
The atmosphere was filled with excitement and pride as family members, graduates, and staff gathered to witness the graduation ceremony at the college’s prestigious campus. The event was graced by notable figures in the education sector, local officials, and esteemed members of the community.
A total of 396 graduates proudly walked across the stage, receiving their well-deserved degrees in the Bachelor of Education program. This inaugural cohort exhibited exceptional dedication, resilience, and academic prowess throughout their educational journey.
Their commitment to the program’s rigorous curriculum, coupled with their passion for teaching, has prepared them to make a positive impact in the lives of future generations.
The Bachelor of Education program at Wiawso College of Education is designed to equip aspiring teachers with comprehensive theoretical knowledge and practical teaching skills.
Under the guidance of a highly qualified and experienced tutors, these graduates have honed their teaching abilities through a combination of classroom lectures, interactive discussions, field experiences, and hands-on training. They have also participated in practicum placements, allowing them to gain real-world teaching experience in local schools and communities.
Wiawso College of Education graduates first batch of bachelor of education program
Among the graduates, 22 were awarded first-class honors, 162 were awarded second-class higher honors, 127 were awarded second-class lower honors, 43 were awarded third-class lower honors, and 1 was awarded a pass grade. In addition, due to re-sit problems, the results of 36 students is now being delayed.
Dr. Caserma is confident that the graduates will be able to make a meaningful contribution to many different communities thanks to the training, knowledge, and skills that they have received. He encouraged them to be models of excellence in the classroom and to make a positive impact on the lives of their pupils.
Dr. Yaw Adu Twum, the Minister of Education, disclosed in a speech that he gave at the 14th graduation ceremony of the Wiawso College of Education that the government has obtained approval for the payment of the 2022–2023 Teacher Trainee Allowance. This announcement was made during the ceremony marking the completion of the college’s 14th academic year.
A total of 241,913,000 Ghana cedis has been set aside for this purpose, guaranteeing that teacher trainees will have access to financial support throughout the academic year.
Dr. Yaw Adu Twum stressed the government’s commitment to increasing programs in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), as well as programs in technical and vocational education and training (TVET). TVET stands for Technical and Vocational Education and Training.
The purpose of this initiative is to promote the subjects of science, technology, and mathematics while also encouraging art students who have an interest in engineering degrees to pursue their passions and follow their dreams.
This effort is a component of the larger government policy to improve educational opportunities and propel economic growth through innovation, and it is one of the initiatives that is being carried out.
Dr. Yayra Dzakadzie, who is the Deputy Director in Charge of Tertiary Education at the Wiawso College of Education in the Western North Region, was the one who read the address in the Minister’s place.
As the guest speaker, Professor Aseidu Addo Samuel, who is also the Dean of the School of Graduate Studies at the University of Education, emphasized the significance of the government’s emphasis on STEM education. Professor Aseidu Addo Samuel is also a member of the National Academy of Education.
He asked the graduates, who would soon be teachers in various places, to make an active contribution to the promotion of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in the communities in which they would serve. They may motivate and empower today’s young to seek careers in these important disciplines if they take this course of action, which will ultimately drive national development.
The invited speaker complimented the government’s dedication to promoting STEM and TVET (technical and vocational education and training) programs as well as providing financial support for teacher trainees.
The graduates were encouraged by Professor Aseidu Addo Samuel to make the most of the opportunities that were available to them and to use their knowledge and experience in STEM education to make a difference in the communities in which they live.
In addition, he exhorted the graduates to take on the roles of teachers and leaders in their respective schools, with the goals of developing a love of STEM topics in their pupils and assisting them in reaching their full potential.
