Kumawood actor Joseph Osei, better known by his stage name Wayoosi, has disclosed the reasons behind his exit from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), citing his interactions with Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Minister of Energy, as the primary factor.
Wayoosi revealed that, despite feeling underappreciated for his efforts, he gave the minister a lot of assistance during NAPO’s campaign for the Manhyia South MP seat. He described how he took the initiative to get in touch with delegates to obtain votes for NAPO, which helped the minister win.
Wayoosi shuns NPP for NDC, sites reasons
Wayoosi voiced his dissatisfaction in an interview with Zionfelix, pointing out that conversations with NAPO had decreased following his unwavering support. The actor explained how his apathy toward NAPO stemmed from feeling ignored by the organization’s efforts.
He continued “Since he was elected MP, our conversations haven’t lasted more than 30 seconds. Nearly every time I called, he was occupied with a meeting. I realized that he no longer needed my help after achieving his goal. This realization caused me to lose interest in the party,” Wayoosi stated in Twi.
Wayoosi has since shifted his support to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama. His comments came amidst speculations that Dr Bawumia might choose NAPO as the NPP’s running mate for the upcoming 2024 elections.
