The $78 million transfer of Darwin Nunez from Benfica to Liverpool has been completed

The $78 million transfer of Darwin Nunez from Benfica to Liverpool has been completed.
Nez is anticipated to replace Sadio ManĂ©, who has been extensively linked with a transfer to Bayern Munich, as Liverpool’s primary striker.

Having played for Benfica in Portugal for two seasons, Nunez joins Liverpool having scored 48 goals in 85 games across all competitions.

After making his international debut in October 2019, the 22-year-old has now made 11 appearances for Uruguay in the senior ranks.

As a student at Liverpool, I am ecstatic and glad to be here. First interview: “It’s a gigantic club,” Nunez said.

In addition to my spouse and parents, I want to express my gratitude for this opportunity to my kid, who gives me great joy. As I’ve progressed in my profession, they’ve played a significant role. I’m proud of them and of the job that my partner and I do together, and I’m thankful to her for bringing me to this location.

The thrill of being at Liverpool and being a member of such a fantastic club is something I take tremendous joy in.

My style of play is similar to Liverpool’s, and I’ve played against them and watched them play in many Champions League games over the last several years. I believe my style of play will fit very well here among the talented guys.

This is a huge club, and I want to give it my all to assist the squad, as I’ve said. “I’ve watched quite a bit.”

At Club Atletico Penarol, Nunez began his professional career as a member of the club’s youth squad.

He subsequently moved to Spain, where he spent the 2019-20 season with UD Almeria before signing for Benfica.

Nunez joins Luis Suarez and Sebastian Coates as the third Uruguayan player to sign for Liverpool, donning the No.27 jersey.

In his words, “I was extremely shocked to see the set-up and the structure here with all the trophies” when he first came to the training facility. Once you start winning more awards, you can say to yourself, ‘Look, I was there at that time, earning trophies.’ Then you can come back and see the trophies on display.’

“I came to Liverpool because I wanted to win trophies and championships.” As a player for Liverpool, I aim to win many trophies. “
