The $78 million transfer of Darwin Nunez from Benfica to Liverpool has been completed.
Nez is anticipated to replace Sadio Mané, who has been extensively linked with a transfer to Bayern Munich, as Liverpool’s primary striker.
Having played for Benfica in Portugal for two seasons, Nunez joins Liverpool having scored 48 goals in 85 games across all competitions.
After making his international debut in October 2019, the 22-year-old has now made 11 appearances for Uruguay in the senior ranks.

At Club Atletico Penarol, Nunez began his professional career as a member of the club’s youth squad.
He subsequently moved to Spain, where he spent the 2019-20 season with UD Almeria before signing for Benfica.
Nunez joins Luis Suarez and Sebastian Coates as the third Uruguayan player to sign for Liverpool, donning the No.27 jersey.
