Former President John Dramani Mahama has encouraged the government to extend help to the inhabitants of Appiate to assist them with financially recovering.
In January this year, no fewer than 13 individuals were killed and a few injured in Appiate, a local area in the western region when a truck stacked with mining explosives exploded.
On May 15, 2022, the government started revamping the fallen Appiate community. Before this, a fund was instituted to raise money to help the local area return to its previous self.
This is despite what the ex-president says, in spite of the fact that the government’s support after the debacle is valued, more should be done to support the lives of the occupants of the area.
“In light of objections about the decrease in deliberate alleviation backing to individuals, I gave over an amount of food and non-food items to the Member of Parliament for Prestea Huni Valley, the Municipal Chief Executive, and the Appiate Disaster Relief Committee to be made accessible to individuals,” he said.
“I also gave them a measure of cash to help with the further treatment of a portion of the harmed casualties.”

President Mahama offered these comments when he visited the town last Tuesday to interact with the chiefs, the Appiate Disaster Relief Committee, and individuals from the local area.
