After the crash on Monday at 19:00 GMT, Elwyn Street in Coedely, Rhondda Cynon Taf, is probably going to stay blocked until Tuesday morning.

According to the Welsh Ambulance Service, three physicians and seven ambulances were dispatched. A spokeswoman acknowledged that deaths had occurred, but she was unable to provide more information. He continued by saying that in addition to a bus and a car, they also thought a motorcycle may have been involved.

Elwyn Street, the terraced street where the collision occurred, has a speed limit of 20 mph (32 km/h).

Dan Owen-Jones, the deputy mayor of Rhondda Cynon Taf, stated that he arrived among the first people at the site after getting a call from an individual residing on the street.

“I have faced this evening tragedy and bereaved families at its worst, at times I was numb and helpless to the grieving families,” he said on a local community page on Facebook.

“The anguish, shock, and agony I have seen tonight are beyond words… terrible.” “It’s a distressing time for all,” he remarked in an interview with BBC Wales. It is considerably worse this time of year.

“I arrived there right away, at around two minutes after seven. One of my neighbors called me; it wasn’t inside their house. I was trying my hardest to manage traffic on the front lines.

Later on, a plethora of family and friends were present. Although it made sense, seeing the family was really upsetting; if it had been my own family, I would have wanted to be present.”

The crash was a “terrible blow” for the community, according to local councillor Danny Grehan, who represents the Coedely area.

“From what I understand, local people were involved in the horrific accident, and this is going to hit the area very hard,” he stated.

“It’s clear from reading last night’s remarks that the entire community will be shocked.

“The pain is obviously going to be felt by the families of those who are part of this but also in the whole community and I would like to thank the Coedely community for opening the community centre last night for the emergency services that worked there.”

Drivers should find an other route, according to South Wales Police, as the road will be closed “for some time”.

The force also noted that traffic was accumulating on the A4119, which connects to the M4 at Miskin.

“Devastating news”

The statement “one of our buses was involved in an incident last night in Rhondda Cynon Taf” was verified by Stagecoach Wales, who also stated that the road closure prevented them from serving Coedely.

“Our first priority and heartfelt thoughts go out to the people affected by this incident, as well as their family and loved ones, and we are supporting our driver at this time,” stated Martin Gibbon, managing director of Stagecoach South Wales.

“We are fully cooperating with the police and we will provide every support we can to assist the investigation into this incident.”

The tragedy was called “devastating news from our community” by Alex Davies-Jones, the Labour MP for Pontypridd.

On X, the previous Twitter platform, she expressed gratitude to those who attempted to assist on Monday night and said, “My thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones affected by this.”
