The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on August 17 expressing their concern regarding these incidents and explaining how the hotlines will help combat the problem.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has observed with grave concerns some complaints filed by applicants alleging that they were subjected to extortion and mistreatment at some Application Centres (PACs).” In an effort to combat the problem, the Ministry has issued a call to action to applicants who have been subjected to any form of improper treatment or corruption: “Report such incidents!”
In addition, the Ministry strongly recommended to applicants that they do not hire any staff members who do not wear name tags.
The Ministry has stated once again that any officer who has been in their position for more than a year will be replaced.
