A potential government shutdown looms as Parliament adjourned without hearing the mini-budget statement.
The development comes after Finance Minister Dr Mohammed Amin Adam’s fifth consecutive day away from the parliament to introduce the important motion.
There was no agreement on the key issues that the administration intended to address, so the mini-budget was not presented.
The Vote on Account is a preliminary financial measure that is required for government operations until the incoming administration approves the complete 2025 budget.
However, parliamentary proceedings were halted when the Finance Minister failed to appear, leaving lawmakers, particularly on the Minority side, dissatisfied.
Parliament has been delayed until January 2, 2025.
