We’ve achieved fastest economic recovery in history – NPP Youth Organizer

Salam Mustapha, who is the national youth organizer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has lauded the economic recovery efforts that the government is making in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to Mustapha, in spite of the instability that is currently occurring in the world’s economy, Ghana has produced one of the quickest economic recoveries.

We’ve achieved fastest economic recovery in history

“The global economy is in a state of instability at the moment, and despite the fact that we are an integral component of the global system, we have made one of the quickest recoveries relative to the other nations in the committee. Even though we are not completely out of the woods yet, there is evidence that points to the fact that we are progressively getting out of it.

“We have never seen petrol prices surge and begin to plummet again as quickly as they are now, and we are still working our way out of it… If you follow the trends, you will notice that even the economies of the first world are having trouble. The way that our economy is built and responds to some economic shocks is different. For the first three years, we were a part of the economies that were growing the fastest in the world, and this has nothing to do with the management of the economy; the Economic Management Team is responsible for that.

Mustapha further mentioned that efforts are being made by the government to formalize the Ghanaian economy so that the country can reap the benefits of doing so.

We made a pledge to move away from the Guggisberg economy, and that is exactly what we are doing. No economy in this world is the same, and we are keeping that promise. Look at the level of digitalization; paperless ports; trying to develop the enabling mechanisms that will allow us to become a new economy will not happen overnight, and we need to formalize the economy, which is exactly what we are doing.
