Italy could host Musk v Zuckerberg cage fight

Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg‘s anticipated cage match may now take place in Italy with an ancient Rome theme.

In the most recent twist to the tale, Italy’s culture minister claimed on Friday that he had discussed organising the showdown as a charity event with Mr. Musk.

Since June, the billionaire CEOs of Tesla and Meta (previously Facebook) have been encouraging one another to fight. Millions are anticipated to be donated to children’s hospitals if it proceeds.

But according to Mr. Zuckerberg, no date has yet been set.

Mr. Musk described his concept for the social media network X (formerly known as Twitter) and claimed to have spoken with both the prime minister and the minister of culture of Italy.

He remarked, “They have decided on an epic location.” “Nothing modern at all; everything in the camera frame will be ancient Rome.”

Rome’s capitol and the renowned Colosseum, the scene of legendary gladiator battles in antiquity, have been eliminated.

According to a statement from Italy’s Minister of Culture, Gennaro Sangiuliano, the “great charity” occasion would honour Italy’s historical significance while also maintaining its cultural heritage.

In a statement, Mr. Sangiuliano said, “I had a lengthy and cordial conversation with Elon Musk, and we talked about our shared passion for ancient Roman history.”

“We are considering how to plan a fantastic charitable event and historical reenactment while honouring and completely conserving the setting… Rome will not be the location.

A “significant amount, many millions of euros,” according to Mr. Sangiuliano, is anticipated to be donated to two Italian children’s hospitals as a result of hosting the cage bout.

Mark Zuckerberg wrote on Threads, the website he founded last month that is thought to be a direct rival to X, that he has “been ready to fight since the day Elon challenged me” and that if a date was ever set, “you’ll hear it from me.”

When he competes, Mr. Zuckerberg wants “to do it in a way that puts a spotlight on the elite athletes at the top of the game,” which seems to be a jab at the proposals that have been suggested.

To pull this off successfully and produce a terrific card, he said, “you work with professional (organisations) like the UFC or ONE.”

Mark Zuckerberg, 39, and Elon Musk, 52, are two of the most well-known billionaires in the field of technology.

When Mr. Musk tweeted that he was “up for a cage fight” with Mr. Zuckerberg in June, the odd concept to engage in combat between the two parties was born.

The CEO of Meta, who has recently won jiu-jitsu competitions and has experience in mixed martial arts (MMA), simply said, “Send me location.”
