NPP Announce Dates For Primaries; Check it out

The presidential primaries held by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to choose a candidate for the general elections in 2024 will take place on November 4, 2023.

However, the party would convene an Extraordinary Congress on August 26 if more than five candidates submit applications to contest the primary.

The presidential primary nomination season will run from May 26 until June 24, 2023.

Moreover, the party declared that parliamentary primaries would take place in February 2024. Between December 20, 2023, and January 4, 2024, nominations will be taken.

Thus, the party will select its presidential candidate before selecting its legislative candidates.

Also, the National Council has told MMDCEs that they can't run for office in areas where the party already has people in parliament.

The NPP issued a statement through its General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, that read in part, “The party has also finalized specific rules and regulations to govern the conduct of both the presidential and parliamentary primaries, which would be made accessible to the public in due time.”
