The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has started vigorous reorganisation in preparation for a 2028 political resurgence.

Haruna Mohammed, the party’s Deputy General Secretary, stated that the party is not only contemplating but also getting ready to battle and retake power from what he called “this very incompetent government.”

Haruna Mohammed said, “We are very focused,” during an appearance on Joy News’ PM Express on Wednesday, April 16. We are adamant. We are certain.

“We are ready to continue in 2028 based on the conversations we had before the report’s presentation.”

He disclosed that a team led by Professor Mike Ocquaye presented a report to the party’s National Council.

Investigating the causes of the party’s loss in the 2024 elections and suggesting structural changes were the two objectives assigned to such group.

You recall that we held a National Council on January 2nd. To examine two topics, an ad hoc committee was established. One is to examine the factors that contributed to our defeat in the general elections in 2024. And the second is to examine potential party reorganisations and modifications,” he clarified.

Three months were allotted to the committee. He stated that the deadline for turning in Professor Mike Ocquaye’s report was April 16.

Prior to it, the National Council met with the National Executive Committee to discuss other issues. After that, we went to the Council and presented our report.

Haruna Mohammed said there was a sense of purpose and enthusiasm at the meeting.

“The members at the National Council were very focused, very determined, and very sure, knowing the NPP from wherever we have come from,” he stated.

“It demonstrated our strength and readiness to overthrow this incredibly inept government.”

He spoke without apology and used clear language when denouncing the current administration.

“This inept administration has to be changed. We’re prepared. “The NPP is returning,” he declared.

He believes that tradition is the foundation of the party’s resurgence.

He highlighted that “the people’s move did stand with the tradition and history of the New Patriotic Party.”

Haruna Mohammed said that the NPP is getting ready for a brutal comeback, emphasising that the party’s leadership is changing the tone from introspection to conflict.

“We are aware of our fall. We are aware of the issue. We will now rise once more,” he declared.
