President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is urging Kumawu constituency residents to cast a sizable number of their votes for the New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary candidate in the upcoming by-election on Tuesday.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which are the two most prominent political parties, are now engaged in an effort to seize the seat.
The highly anticipated by-election in Kumawu is scheduled to take place in around 24 hours, and prominent political party bigwigs in both the NPP and the NDC have ramped up their efforts in an attempt to guarantee that their candidate will win the seat.
President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia are attempting to persuade delegates to vote for their party’s nominee, while a former President, John Dramani Mahama, is presenting a compelling argument on behalf of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Both of the independent candidates running for office have stated their intention to surprise the voters.
When the New Patriotic Party (NPP) began holding its large rally on May 21, 2023, it created a highly tense environment at Kumawu, which was one of the venues for the event.
During the final rally for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the constituency, which took place on Sunday, May 21, the President, who had previously endorsed Ernest Yaw Anim, urged the residents to vote for him.
Vote for NPP candidate to win Kumawu by-election – Akufo-Addo
“The man who will be taking over for Philip Basoah is a charming gentleman with a kind heart who is eager to be of service to you. He has succeeded in bringing together all of the party members who reside in this constituency. Ernest Yaw Anim is qualified to carry out the duties of the role. We don’t want any dishonest candidates; therefore, put your thumb where you see him on the ballot. He’s number one on the ballot.
The Vice President, for his part, spoke highly of the accomplishments of the NPP and reminded the people of the projects they will not be able to participate in if they vote for the candidate put forward by the NDC.
“Vote for the candidate put forward by the NPP to enter parliament in order to bring about progress in the constituency. The National Democratic Congress (NDC) ought to be aware that we have not forgotten about the Dumsor era. He asked, “Do you want us to go through the Dumsor experience once more?”
Ernest Yaw Anim, the NPP parliamentary candidate for Kumawu, also asked the residents to avoid complacency and go out in their numbers to vote massively for him in order to achieve a resounding victory. Anim is running for a seat in the Kumawu Constituency.
“Let’s all go out in our numbers to vote massively for me to win,” he urged everyone listening to him to do in order to ensure his victory.
The NPP’s rally was led by President Akufo-Addo, his Vice, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and other NPP stalwarts, including a former Trade Minister and a flagbearer hopeful of the NPP, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, MP for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, a former Agriculture Minister and a flagbearer aspirant, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and the NPP’s National Chairman, Stephen Ntim, amongst others.
As a result of the deployment of dozens of security personnel to the area in advance of the by-election, there has been a significant increase in the level of security in Kumawu.
