Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2024 flagbearer, has pleaded with Ghanaians to pardon his party for its errors during its rule.

Speaking to the public in Goaso as part of the NPP’s Thank You Tour, he promised that the party had learnt a lot from its time in power and will work harder if given the chance again.

Dr. Bawumia said, “We acknowledge that we have made mistakes along the way, and we sincerely ask for your forgiveness.”

Speaking to a sizable gathering of supporters, Dr. Bawumia highlighted the value of reflection and accountability in governance.

He clarified that the NPP was dedicated to winning back the public’s trust and expressed its sincere gratitude for the support it had accumulated over the years.

“This Thank You Tour is a time for sober reflection as well as celebration,” he said.

“After hearing your worries, we are committed to working with you to find a new course for the future.”

Dr. Bawumia, the former vice president, also exhorted Ghanaians to believe in the NPP’s plans for the nation.

He emphasised the party’s history of economic stabilisation, infrastructure development, and digitisation, contending that notable advancements had been made in spite of the difficulties.

“We will not offer any justifications,” Dr. Bawumia declared.

“Instead, we promise to make amends for our mistakes and provide even better governance going forward.”

Dr. Bawumia urged unity among party members and supporters nationwide as he concluded his speech.

He urged people to maintain believing in the NPP’s cause and emphasised that the 2024 election will be a pivotal time for Ghana’s democracy.

He pleaded, “Let’s proceed together with a revitalised sense of purpose.”

“Serving with humility, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to progress is something we owe to every Ghanaian.”
