A weather presenter on American television is named Cecily Tynan. Tynan, who once hosted the public affairs show Primetime Weekend on Saturday nights, is currently WPVI’s chief meteorologist.

After graduating from Washington & Lee University, Tynan started her career as a weekend weather anchor and general assignment reporter for WDBJ in Roanoke, Virginia. Later, she joined KTNV and took on the role of “Good Morning Las Vegas” news anchor.

Cecily Tynan was then employed by WPVI in 1995. She started out as a general reporter and weekend weathercaster. She worked her way up to the position of weekday morning weathercaster.

By 2003, Tynan started reporting for work on weeknights between 5:30 and 11:00 p.m. She became well-known when she replaced Lisa Thomas-Laury as co-host of various locally produced programs, including the Flower Show, Philly on Wheels, the Thanksgiving Day Parade, the 4th of July Parade, and the 6ABC Dunkin’ Donuts Thanksgiving Day Parade.

In addition to being a well-known meteorologist, Tynan is also a triathlete. She was a world-class professional duathlete in the past and has completed four marathons in under three hours. Also in 2003, she competed in the Kona, Hawaii, Ironman World Championships and placed in the top ten of her age category. Even the cover of the February 2001 issue of Runner’s World Magazine features Tynan.

Cecily hasn’t been spotted competing in any local charity races, either, until lately. She took over the weathercasts at 5 and 6 p.m. after Dave Roberts resigned in 2009.Currently serving as WPVI’s top meteorologist, she may be seen providing weather commentary on the 5, 6, and 11 p.m. broadcasts.
