Another alleged injunction application hits NDC

According to reports, a new injunction action challenging the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) presidential and parliamentary elections has been submitted to the High Court.

Edgar Asamoah Boateng, a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has petitioned the court to prevent the party from going forward with the polls scheduled for Saturday.

According to him, the fact that the party does not have a sufficient photo album of qualified voters is the root reason for the significant antagonism and enmity that exist within the party.

His legal team is requesting that the court issue “an order of interlocutory injunction to restrain the Defendants/Respondents, its officers or agents, or otherwise howsoever, from holding the primary elections for the nomination of presidential and parliamentary candidates of the National Democratic Congress Party on May 13, 2023, pending the determination of the suit herein as per the grounds deposed to in the accompanying affidavit and for any further orders the Honourable Court may deem just and equitable.”

This comes just a few hours after Dr. Kwabena Duffior, an aspirant for the position of flagbearer of the NDC, withdrew his injunction plea from court.

On Friday, May 12th, his attorneys disclosed to the court that they had been given the instruction by their client to withdraw from the case.

Abraham Amaliba, Director of Legal Affairs for the NDC, was present in court when he made the following statement to the media:

“We are aware the matter has been discontinued. Lawyers for Dr. Duffuor announced to the court that they had instructions to discontinue the matter, and as a result, the matter has been discontinued as of this moment.”
