Akufo-Addo set to begin 2024 election campaign tour on October 2

On Wednesday, October 2, 2024, President Akufo-Addo will launch his campaign for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 presidential contest.

Along with other 276 NPP parliamentary candidates, he will be campaigning alongside Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and his running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh.

Starting in the Upper East and Upper West Regions, the campaign trail will last roughly sixty-five days before the December 7, 2024, presidential and legislative elections.

According to people aware of the president’s schedule, he intends to travel to each of the 16 states before the polls.

Akufo-Addo will depart the nation for official duties in France and Germany on Thursday, October 3, 2024.

After his return, He will continue his regional campaign for the NPP’s 2024 ticket.

President Akufo-Addo is eager to ensure a seamless power handover as he prepares for this campaign. He has stated that he wants Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, who has accompanied him in four previous elections, to take over as president (2008, 2012, 2016, and 2020).

Of these, they lost the 2008 and 2012 elections but prevailed in the 2016 and 2020 elections.

Over the past few months, Drs. Bawumia and Prempeh have been actively involved in constituency-based campaigns.
