Police invite Yvonne Nelson, two others over dumsor vigil

The Accra Regional Police Command has asked actresses Yvonne Nelson, Selorm Dramani Dzramado, and Henry Osei Akoto to a meeting over their request to organize a vigil in protest of the recent unstable power supply.

The police stated that the purpose of the meeting would be to talk about the specifics of the scheduled demonstration in a letter that was discovered online and signed by Arhin Kwasi Annor, the deputy commissioner of police.

The conveners and the actress are scheduled to meet on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at 2:00 p.m.

This is in response to Yvonne Nelson notifying the Ghana Police Service of her plan to demonstrate against the government.

Yvonne Nelson stated that the vigil would occur on May 25 in a statement released on May 9.

Addressed to the Inspector General of Police, the letter stated that the vigil would take place at Revolution Square at 8:30 am and conclude at midnight.

The actress is seeking the support of the general public for the imminent protest against ‘dumsor’ and hopes for a similar turnout as the 2015 dumsor protest she organized along with other celebrities.
