Yaw Ampofo Ankrah appointed Director General of NSA

Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, a renowned Ghanaian sports broadcaster, has been selected as the National Sports Authority’s (NSA) new Director General, following Acting Director General Seth Panwum.

Yaw Ampofo Ankrah is well-known for his contributions to sports journalism, which have included appearances on leading media platforms such as the BBC, SuperSport, and Metro TV. He presently works as the Head of Sports at MAX FM.

In his new position, he will collaborate closely with Kofi Adams, the Minister of Sports and Recreation, to drive the growth, organisation, and promotion of professional and recreational sports throughout the country.

His tasks will include promoting national unity via sports, encouraging health and fitness activities, and ensuring that sports infrastructure is efficiently managed for long-term sustainability.

Stakeholders believe that his leadership will bring innovation and advancement to the NSA, hence strengthening sports administration and development in Ghana.

Aside from broadcasting, Ampofo Ankrah has played a significant role in Ghana’s beach football scene.

Yaw Ampofo Ankrah is presently the president of the Ghana Beach Soccer Association (GBSA), having previously led the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) beach soccer committee.

As he begins this new chapter, the sports community excitedly awaits his effect, hoping for a transformative approach that will raise Ghanaian sports on both national and international platforms.
