Mali resumed their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign with a dominant 3-0 win over the Comoros on Thursday. The game was played at Morocco’s Stade Municipal de Berkane, where the Malien Eagles put on a clinical display to secure three critical points.

Tom Saintfiet’s team began the encounter with tremendous vigour, controlling possession and pressing their opponents from the opening.

Their dominance paid dividends in the 20th minute, when Nene Dorgeles pounced onto a well-placed ball from Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma to score the first goal.

Mali kept pushing forward, but the Comoros defence held firm to prevent further damage before halftime.

The Eagles resumed the second half with the same aggressive purpose, and they quickly doubled their lead.

Just ten minutes after the restart, VfB Stuttgart forward El Bilal Toure set up Kamory Doumbia, who made no mistake in scoring.

The pair collaborated again in the 63rd minute, with Bissouma assisting Doumbia’s second goal of the game, securing Mali’s overwhelming victory.

With this critical win, Mali moves up to fourth position in Group I with eight points, just behind the Comoros, who retain third.

Madagascar and Ghana now hold the top two positions in the group rankings.

Mali will attempt to build on this momentum when they face the Central African Republic in their next qualifier on Monday, while the Comoros will seek vengeance against Chad the day after.
