‘We’ll introduce short military training for NSS personnel’ – President Mahama

President John Mahama to provide short military training for National Service Scheme (NSS) personnel.

Speaking on Thursday, February 27, his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) in his second term, he said that the project seeks to inculcate in young people serving their nation discipline and fitness.

“Part of our National Service Scheme, we will incorporate brief military training. This would give our young people discipline and fitness, he said.

President Mahama also said that he has instructed security services to list as absconders wanted the culprits engaged in the National Service Authority (NSA) ghost names affair.

He argues that individuals involved in the scandal have to answer since governmental resources cannot be pilfers with impunity.

Emphasising that his government would guarantee that justice is done, he said, “such brazen theft of public funds must be stopped and punished.”
