The Vice President of Ghana delivered a speech at the New Year School that was held at the University of Ghana in Legon this year.

“We are on track to give every student enrolled in Senior High School in Ghana a tablet computer for their studies this year. These computers will be pre-loaded with the necessary textbooks.” This is a very significant turn of events that will change the game. On these tablets, which will be delivered to you, we will have questions from the past that have been preloaded.

In the past, the government made the announcement that it would be working along with publishers in the country to bring out the project.

In addition, there are plans to provide a free internet connection to senior high schools and institutes of higher education in order to enhance the quality of education provided there.

As part of this project, the government has stated that it has already given the contract for the first batch of Wi-Fi installations, which will commence in some institutions that are in the second cycle and those at the tertiary level.

When this is implemented for kids in middle and high school, they will be given tablets that are pre-loaded with their textbooks.

This is a part of the government’s initiative toward digitalizing the education sector in Ghana, which is now underway.

According to him, the tablets that are going to be distributed to students in second-cycle schools will already have all of the necessary educational resources and textbooks loaded onto them.

One might recall that the Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has made pledges along these lines since November of 2021. He stated that preparations are well on to offer tablet computers to kids enrolled in Senior High Schools (SHS) all around the country.

According to what he has said, this action is being taken as part of the government’s plan to digitise all facets of the economy.

He stated that discussions are currently taking place between the government and the publishers of the textbooks to preload all of the tablets with all of the necessary textbooks.

This information was shared by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia during his presentation on Ghana’s digitization push at Ashesi University in the Eastern Region. His talk was titled “Transforming an economy through digitalization: The Ghana narrative.”
