Dr. Gideon Boako, who serves as the spokesperson for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has stated that critics should stop pointing the finger of blame at the Vice President for the nation’s current economic difficulties.

Dr. Gideon Boako made the observation that although Dr. Bawumia is the Head of the Economic Management Team, he is not the reason why Ghana is having issues.

Dr. Bawumia has, in his opinion, shown a high level of competence since joining the New Patriotic Party and taking on the position of Vice President of Ghana. This is evident from the initiatives he has taken and his commitment to Ghana’s advancement.

We should argue that Bawumia was responsible for that since this administration has built more interchanges than any other administration since 1992. Since 1992, this administration has built more railways than any other government; let us say Bawumia is responsible for it.

Since 1992, this administration has been responsible for the installation of more rural telephones than any other administration, and we should give Bawumia credit for this accomplishment.

“Since 1992, our government has constructed more classrooms than any other government; therefore, let us state that Bawumia was responsible for that. Let us claim the vice president is responsible for creating 2.1 million jobs for Ghanaians since 1992, which is more jobs than any previous government has supplied for Ghanaians during that time period.

On the morning show Kokrokoo on Peace FM, he made the statement, “If you say Bawumia should be blamed for anything bad about this government, then equally, you should praise him for all of the good things as well.”

According to him, the reason why the vice president is being criticized is because he is running for president of the New Patriotic Party in 2024, and because of this, the critics believe that “we should give the dog a bad name and hang it.” He also emphasized that this behavior towards the Vice President “is not proper.”

Dr. Gideon Boako also pounced on those individuals who were perplexed as to why Ghana continues to import food products and who said that the vice president, in his role as Head of the Economic Management Team, should have put in place economic policies to prevent Ghana from continuing to import food.

“A problem that arises in agriculture is the importing of rice. The position of Minister of Agriculture does not belong to Bawumia. “Why do you want to leave the person in charge of rice cultivation matters and blame Bawumia because he holds a title as the Head of Economic Management Team?” he questioned. “Why do you want to blame him because he holds the title of Head of Economic Management Team?”

In addition, he stressed that in spite of the “weaknesses and shortfalls” of the administration of Akufo-Addo and Bawumia, this government is much superior to the National Democratic Congress, which is in opposition.
