The University of Ghana Health Services Directorate has issued a health notice to the university community in response to a rise of COVID-19 cases on and near campus.
According to a statement issued on June 23, 2025, the directorate acknowledged that multiple suspected and confirmed COVID-19 cases have been recorded in the university’s local surroundings.
The advisory advises all students, faculty, and visitors to remain attentive and rigorously follow to safety practices designed to limit the spread of the virus.
The Directorate recommends the following preventive measures: wearing face masks in enclosed or crowded spaces; regular handwashing with soap under running water or using alcohol-based sanitisers; keeping a minimum of one metre distance from others; avoiding large gatherings unless absolutely necessary; ensuring good ventilation in lecture halls, offices, and meeting rooms; and staying at home and seeking prompt medical attention if flu-like symptoms occur.
The Health Services Directorate has also revived the COVID-19 Response Protocols.
These include screening, triage procedures in health facilities, and close monitoring of the situation. Regular updates will be provided as needed.
“We must work together to protect ourselves and our community,” the statement said.
