UCC Student Rose Yeboah Wins Ghana’s first International Gold Medal in High Jump

Rose Yeboah Amoanimaa is a Ghanaian high jumper who was born on December 23, 2001. She has competed in world championships, most recently in Rabat, Morocco, in the 2019 African Games.

Yeboah debuted on the international stage in 2019 at the XIV African U20 Championships in Abidjan, where she won gold in the high jump with a leap of 1.83 meters. She again competed in the 2019 African Games in Rabat in August, where she improved by one centimeter and won another gold medal in the high jump event.

Rose Yeboah won Ghana’s first goal medal at the 2022 African Senior Athletics Championships in Mauritius, clearing the bar to win the women’s high jump with a leap of 1.79m. Rose won the gold medal in Mauritius, beating off close competitors Temitope Adeshina of Nigeria and Yvonne Robson of South Africa.

In 2019, a student from the University of Cape Coast won gold at the African Games in Rabat. With 1.85m, the 21-year-old holds the Ghana University Sports Association Games record.
