Top 5 celebrity beefs of the year 2024: Drama, diss tracks, and heated feuds

Drama Alert! From furious diss recordings to social media showdowns, 2024 was a year of legendary celebrity feuds.

Who took the spotlight in Ghana’s biggest beefs of the year?

In 2024, Ghana’s entertainment landscape was alight with furious exchanges, dramatic clapbacks, and bitter rivalries as some of the greatest personalities in showbiz locked horns in public disagreements.

From creative diss recordings to social media showdowns, here are the best celebrity feuds that have fans buzzing:

Shatta Wale vs Black Sherif

In a recent episode of the Rants, Bants, and Confessions Podcast, Shatta Wale criticized Black Sherif’s wardrobe choices, sparking a heated feud. Black Sherif was not amused and responded with a viral Snapchat post ridiculing Shatta Wale’s choice of underwear.

The comment struck a nerve, driving Shatta to threaten the younger musician during a heated X (previously Twitter) live session, suggesting he might terminate Sherif’s career.

Fans soon took sides, with hashtags and memes dominating social media, resulting in one of the year’s most talked-about rivalries.

Shatta Wale vs Stonebwoy

In June, the University of Ghana cancelled Shatta Wale’s headline event, sparking a new conflict between him and Stonebwoy.

Shatta Wale publicly accused Stonebwoy of spoiling the event since a competing concert was scheduled for the same day. Stonebwoy refuted the charges, but the drama sparked speculation about relations between the two dancehall legends.

Sista Afia vs Efia Odo

Old feuds between singer Sista Afia and actress Efia Odo resurfaced when a fan compared Sista Afia’s popular bikini video to her style. The actress quickly responded, calling the analogy insulting. Sista Afia could not hold back, responding with a harsh clapback of her own.

This revived their previous feud, including allegations from Efia Odo that Sista Afia had been connected with her boyfriend, which Sista Afia firmly denied during a public showdown. The strain added extra dimensions to a rivalry that had nearly become physical.

Nana Ama McBrown versus Sally Mann.

Nana Ama McBrown, a veteran actress, received continuous criticism from media figure Sally Mann. McBrown eventually broke her silence, explaining that she chose not to answer because she believes herself “above such exchanges.

” Her respectful demeanor resonated with spectators, contrasting strongly with Mann’s constant insults and highlighting McBrown’s dignity amidst the tumult.

Sarkodie versus Dremo.

On May 10, 2024, Ghanaian musician Sarkodie released Brag, a chest-thumping hymn that cemented his status as Africa’s finest rapper. Nigerian rapper Dremo wasted no time responding with a diss single, denying Sarkodie’s GOAT status and claiming that Nigerian stars outperformed their Ghanaian peers.

The cross-border rap feud enthralled fans, with passionate debates erupting across social media platforms, illustrating Ghana and Nigeria’s friendly (and not-so-friendly) hip-hop rivalry.

From small squabbles to professional rivalries, 2024 will be remembered as a year of high celebrity drama in Ghana. These feuds, however contentious, kept fans engaged and the entertainment business buzzing.

As the year ends, the question remains: Will 2025 bring reconciliations or even more spectacular showdowns? Only time will tell.
