Thomas Partey withdraws from Black Stars

The 30-year-old was included in Otto Addo’s 25-man list. It was anticipated that he would lead the Black Stars in the absence of Andre Ayew, a role that he has enthusiastically embraced in recent international matches.

Thomas Partey, a midfielder for Arsenal, has withdrawn from Ghana’s squad in preparation for their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Sudan. The reason for his withdrawal is an injury.

The thirty-year-old player was first selected for Otto Addo’s 25-man squad and was anticipated to lead the Black Stars in the absence of Andre Ayew.

Partey has responded positively to the responsibility of captaining the team in previous international matches.

Thomas Partey was compelled to remain in London due to Arsenal’s request for more medical examinations, which led to Partey’s decision to withdraw from the qualifiers.

This preventative measure was taken because the club was concerned about his physical condition.

Joseph Paintsil of the LA Galaxy, Osman Ibrahim of Feyenoord, and Kingsley Schindler of Samsunspor are the three other players who have been ruled out due to injuries.

In light of the recent victory that LA Galaxy achieved, Paintsil is experiencing discomfort in his hamstrings, and the club’s medical staff has scheduled an MRI on October 7th. Over the weekend, Ibrahim Osman suffered a hamstring injury, and Schindler could not travel to Accra due to a medical emergency.
