This is how Mahama will tackle free SHS

National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his support for the Free Senior High School (SHS) program and pledged to improve it should he be re-elected president in the next elections.

He emphasized the importance of the Free SHS program to give all Ghanaians equitable educational opportunities.

The importance of the Free SHS program in assisting society’s most vulnerable members was also emphasized by the former president. He recognized its contribution to providing equal opportunities for pupils from all backgrounds.

A policy that helps so many people, especially the most vulnerable, cannot be canceled, Mr. Mahama emphasized.

He states that he is dedicated to maintaining and improving the program for the benefit of Ghanaians.

“The Free SHS policy has come to stay, and I am committed to improving it,” he said while addressing journalists in Accra on Sunday, July 7.

He reiterated that he is not against the policy and emphasized that he supports it, but wants it improved to address current challenges.

Regarding the Free SHS Bill yet to be laid before Parliament, Mr Mahama stated he would support it if it aims to enhance and sustain the policy
