A third suspect in the murder of Immigration Officer Stephen King Amoah, 38, has reportedly died after a short illness.

In an interview with Accra-based Citi News, Stephen’s brother, Kwasi Amoako, verified the news, stating that he learnt about it from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) officer in charge of the case.

“We went to court yesterday, and I can confirm that the third suspect passed away. I was informed by the Police CID, who is in charge of the matter.

“We thank God that our brother has begun seeking justice for himself,” Mr. Amoako remarked.

The suspect’s death adds another layer to an already sensitive issue that has sparked public interest since the officer’s death.

Mr. Amoah’s family has constantly advocated for prompt and thorough investigations to achieve accountability and closure.

Police have not issued an official statement confirming the occurrence.

Mr. Amoah was reported missing on July 3, 2025, after leaving his home to see a friend in the Ashongman Estate.

His burnt remains were eventually discovered on July 9 at Abuom Junction in Kwabenya, sparking an extensive police investigation and manhunt that resulted in the arrest of three suspects.
