The government would establish a 20% allowance for rural teachers to encourage them to accept and stay in underserved districts.

President John Dramani Mahama announced at his State of the Nation Address (#SONA2025) in Parliament on Thursday, February 27, 2025.

“To motivate teachers and improve education in rural areas, the government will implement a 20 percent allowance for teachers who accept postings to deprived communities,” he explained.
