Suzzy Adwoa Pinamang, a second-year student at the Adventist Senior High School in Bantama, Kumasi, Ashanti Region, who was unintentionally shot in the eye by a classmate, has had life-changing eye surgery at London’s world-renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital.

Suzzy arrived in the United Kingdom on Saturday, May 10, 2025, accompanied by a carer who happens to be her brother.

The information was supplied by Rafik Mahama, Special Aide to Mr Ibrahim Mahama, CEO of Engineers and Planners Ltd, and Dzata Cement Ltd, which totally sponsored the surgery.

According to Mr Mahama’s declaration, the treatment took place on June 2, 2025, and was declared a success.

“Suzzy is currently on her way to full recovery. She has already begun to regain her independence, and she can now see on her own, according to the latest report.

The statement expressed profound gratitude to the medical teams engaged in both Ghana and the United Kingdom, particularly the professionals at Moorfields Eye Hospital, which is known for providing cutting-edge ophthalmic care.

Special thanks were also extended to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Ghana High Commission in London, the outgoing UK High Commissioner to Ghana, Harriet Thompson, Francis Asenso-Boakye, Roger Pope Opticians in London, members of the media, and the general public for their support.

“We are especially grateful to Mr Ibrahim Mahama, whose generosity and full support made this entire process possible for Suzzy,” a press release said.
