The New Patriotic Party (NPP) will have a meeting on Wednesday in an effort to break the tie that exists between presidential hopefuls Boakye Agyarko and Francis Addai-Nimoh.
The goal of the meeting is to increase the number of candidates for the November 4 presidential primary from three to five.
Due to the fact that both candidates received nine votes in the first round of voting, the party was compelled to hold a run-off election on Saturday, September 2nd.
However, in the interest of avoiding a runoff election, the party has requested that the two candidates step down in favour of one another.
To date, neither of the two candidates has indicated any willingness to step down.

Wednesday will be the day that the NPP National Executive Committee (NEC) and the National Council get together to talk about the issue at hand.
Stephen Ntim, the Chairman of the NPP, gave an interview to the media following a meeting with the aspirants, and during the interview he stated that a choice that is in the best interest of the party will be made during the meeting on Wednesday.
“Eventually, everyone will come to an understanding, and then the party can continue on. For the two candidates who are tied for fifth place, it will only be a matter of convincing one of them to yield to the other in order to break the tie. However, it appears that both candidates are ready to give it their best, and as a result, we are preparing to meet tomorrow.
“NEC will meet, followed by the National Council; we are trying to find a solution or finality to the dialogue that we are having,” he remarked. “We are trying to find a solution or finality to the dialogue that we are having.”
