Will Smith has finally responded to Jada Pinkett Smith’s allegations made about their marriage in her most recent biography, saying that her comments “kind of woke him up.”
The 52-year-old actress has stated that she and her husband, 55, have been “separated” since 2016, but they aren’t officially divorced, and she won’t ever be “able to break that promise.”
“By the time we got to 2016, we were just exhausted from trying,” she stated on Today. “I think we were both kind of just stuck in our fantasy of what we thought the other person should be.”
In addition to insisting that she was “shocked” that he referred to her as his “wife” when he smacked Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars after the comedian made a joke about her hair loss, Jada stated that the couple hasn’t lived together for two years.
Smith was widely criticized for the altercation, which led to his resignation from the Academy and a ten-year ban from attending any Oscar ceremonies.
The King Richard actor has once again shown his support for Pinkett Smith in light of her remarks.

The actor claimed that his wife’s memoir, Worthy, “kind of woke him up” and that he now realized she is more “resilient, clever, and compassionate than he’d understood” in an interview with The New York Times prior to the publication of her book.
“When you’ve been with someone for more than half of your life, a sort of emotional blindness sets in, and you can all too easily lose your sensitivity to their hidden nuances and subtle beauties,” he wrote in an email to the publication.
The actor uploaded a video of himself taking a nice snooze on a yacht and appeared to recognize the recent uproar on social media.
