Ridge Hospital assault: Probe committee presents findings

Ridge Hospital assault

There is no medical proof to back up allegations that Rejoice Tsotso Bortei, a rotation nurse at Ridge Hospital, dislocated her shoulder during the assault, according to the committee that was established by Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, the minister of health, to look into the matter.

The accused victim reported her injuries one day after the assault on August 18, according to Dr. Lawrence Ofori-Boadu, the Committee’s chairman, who presented the findings to the Health Minister on Wednesday, August 27.

Medical records, however, revealed no indications of a dislocation in her right shoulder joint or a fracture in her left wrist.

The report states that the nurse received treatment, was prescribed painkillers, and was counselled to remain in bed. After the experience, she was also given psychological support care.

“Rejoice!” A day after the incident on August 18, rotation nurse Tsotso Bortei reported her injury to the hospital and received additional care.

According to the medical documents, there was no indication of a fracture on her left wrist or a dislocation of her right shoulder joint.

However, the committee noted that she had received psychological support care, bed rest recommendations, and treatment and pain medication.

The results directly refute the nurse’s assertions that she suffered a dislocation as a result of the assault.

The explanation comes after a video of the incident went viral, showing family members of a patient fighting with emergency room employees at Ridge Hospital, raising serious concerns about healthcare personnel’ safety.

Mintah Akandoh ordered the committee to look into the issue in reaction to the commotion, which has been strongly condemned by the public and professional associations.

Ralph Saint Williams, also known as “Ralph De Fellow Ghanaian,” is the target of a legal case brought by Rejoice Tsotso Bortei. She is requesting GHS 7 million in compensation for the incident’s alleged physical assault and defamation.
