Richard Dawson: Is He Dead or Alive?

Richard Dawson was an English-American actor, comic, and game-show host. He is most popular as the first host of Family Feud from 1976 to 1985.

Born Colin Lionel Emm on 20 November 1932 to a van driver and factory worker. 14-year-old Dawson enlisted in the British Merchant Navy where he sought a lifelong in boxing. However, after his service, he chose to seek comedy where he made his first appearance on the Benny Hill Showcase in 1954.

He made his film debut as a minor job in the film King Rat in 1965. He before long joined the cast of Hogan’s Heroes as Cpl. Peter Newkirk, this job procured him popularity. In 1976, Dawson turned into the host of Family Feud, which procured him an Emmy award. Additionally, during the years 1979 and 1980, he was a frequent guest presenter on The Tonight Show.

In 1994, Dawson returned to host Family Feud after the host was terminated, he was on the show for a year. He officially retired in 1995. Richard Dawson passed on from complications of esophageal cancer on June 2, 2012, at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center.

The Game Show Network broadcasted a four-hour long-distance race of Dawson’s most memorable moments on TV.
