Wiawso College of Education Principal suspends SRC president

The recent suspension of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) president, Owell Mintah, at Wiawso College of Education has sparked significant controversy and debate within the academic community.

This incident highlights the tensions between student leadership and administration and raises important questions about governance, accountability, and student rights in educational institutions.

This move has drawn criticism from students and observers alike, who argue that it undermines democratic principles within the institution.

The Incident

The SRC president was suspended allegedly after questioning decisions made by Dr. Emmanuel Carsamar, the principal of Wiawso College of Education.

According to reports, the president raised concerns regarding the administration’s failure to resolve ongoing issues with the wifi usage in the school.

Meanwhile, in a statement released by the college, the SRC president acted in various ways that go against the constitution of the SRC office.

His opinions aimed to improve conditions for his peers and reflected a broader demand for accountability from college authorities.

The principal’s decision to suspend the SRC president has been perceived by many as an attempt to silence dissenting voices within the college.

Critics argue that such actions can create a chilling effect on student leadership and discourage others from advocating for their peers’ rights and needs.
