Police find the missing Ellembelle excavator; the DCE and three other people are detained.

A team of operations and intelligence police officers in the Western Region found one of the missing excavators in the Ellembelle District.

The excavator was located by the police on Tuesday, September 6, during their activities, according to a post on social media on Wednesday.

The Service is currently conducting an investigation to locate the other excavator as well as to identify and apprehend those responsible for the crime.

In the meantime, Kwasi Bonzo, the District Chief Executive (DCE) of Ellembelle, and three other people have been arrested by the police for attacking and blocking the police officers who went to get the excavator.

At the Axim Junction, the DCE of Ellembelle, who was accompanying the squad of police officers escorting the digger to Takoradi, Mr. Kwasi Bonzo set up and led a group of thugs to attack the police and stop the operation.

“As a direct result of this, the DCE, along with three other individuals, were taken into custody.” The other excavator is still missing, and authorities are working to find it and apprehend those responsible.
Following the loss of two mining excavators in the area, Mr. Bonzo, his assistant, and another individual were under police investigation for a few days.

According to sources, the DCE learned that the police had found an excavator that matched the description of the one that had been reported missing, which led to Wednesday’s arrest.

He entered the area in the morning, purportedly to identify the earthmoving machinery.
According to reports, the DCE tried to enter the room but was ignored. and confirm who owns the equipment.
Witnesses said that the DCE followed up in the district’s Ayisakrom, according to Ina-Thalia Quansah, Western Regional Correspondent for JoyNews.

Kwasi Bonzo is said to have fought with the security guards there after arguing with them.
He was eventually loaded into a police car and driven to the Sekondi headquarters.
