Our aim is to qualify for AFCON and do well – Hughton

Chris Hughton, the head coach of the Black Stars, has his sights set on leading his team to a strong showing at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament and qualifying for that competition.

On Thursday, the Black Stars will compete against Angola in an important qualifying match. If they are successful, they will move one step closer to securing a spot in the competition that will be held in the Ivory Coast the following year.

Hughton stated on Wednesday during a pre-match press conference that the team’s objective is to qualify for the AFCON and perform well once we get there.

Hughton, who just recently extended his contract to last until the end of 2024, is eager to make a positive impact on the team’s performance after the four-time African champions were unable to impress at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where they were eliminated in the group stage.

Hughton recently signed a contract that will last until the end of 2024.

Due to the fact that both teams are currently tied with four points in the qualifiers, the upcoming match against Angola is extremely important for both teams.

A rematch between these two teams is scheduled to take place in Luanda on March 27, and a win for either side in both of their matches would significantly improve their chances of qualifying for the tournament in Ivory Coast.
