NPP donates GH₵10k to support Atsu’s grieving family

The leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has given GH10,000 in cash to the family of the late Christian Atsu in order to help them out financially.

Justin Kodua, the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, Henry Nana Boakye, the National Organiser of the party, Aziz Haruna Futah, the Coordinator of Nasara, and other officials sent their condolences to the footballer’s family.

On Sunday, the remains of Christian Atsu, a former Ghana international footballer who passed away after being killed in an earthquake in Turkey, were brought back to Ghana.

On February 6, a 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck Turkey and Syria, killing more than 44,000 people in both countries. Atsu, who was 31 years old at the time, was killed in the earthquake.

During this time, former Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah accompanied a group of his current and former players on his national team to pay their condolences to the Atsu family.

All of Ghana’s players, including Rabiu Mohammed, Jerry Akaminko, Kwadwo Asamoah, and Derek Boateng, as well as the actress Lydia Forson, were present at the event.

Other people involved include Appiah’s wife, Hannah Bentil, as well as Appiah’s uncle, Nii Kwadwo Appiah, also known as the “Father of the Jamestown Stool.”

Earlier, former Black Stars coach CK Akonnor showed his gratitude to the Atsu family by paying his respects at their funeral.
