Kofi Adams, the minister of sports and recreation, has denied demands that the Black Stars’ budget for their games against Madagascar and Chad be released immediately.

Calls for the government to reveal spending on the national football team have grown in tandem with the public’s growing demands for accountability and openness in the sports industry.

However, the minister said that it would be improper to reveal the budget at this time in an interview with Umaru Sanda Amadu on Face to Face on Channel One TV.

When the moment comes, you’ll be able to tell. I’ll make it public, I’m saying. Does the National Team no longer play? September is when we have our next assignment; we have games to play. Additionally, we will undoubtedly make it public,” he stated.

Adams explained that the current budget is still a working draft and that making it public too soon could cause needless rumours and misunderstandings.

He underlined, “I’m not hiding a draft budget; it would be unfair to make it public.”

He promised Ghanaians that after all national team activities are finished, a comprehensive disclosure will be made.

Additionally, the minister promised that the budget presentation for the Black Stars’ forthcoming games would not be delayed.

He reaffirmed, “I will not permit the Ghana Football Association to postpone presenting a budget for the September round of games.”
