NIGERIA ELECTIONS 2023: INEC certifies Tinubu’s victory in Ekiti

Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), won Ekiti State with 201,494 votes, defeating Alhaji Abubakar Atiku, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP, who scored 89,554.

Prof. Akeem Olawale Lasisi, who is also the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Health Sciences in Ila Orangun, which is located in Osun State, served as the Collation Officer for the recently concluded presidential election in Ekiti, and he disclosed the results of the election on Sunday at the national collation center in Abuja.

After tallying the votes cast in all 16 local government areas of the state, he declared that the APC was victorious in the election.

According to Lasisi, the total number of votes that were cast during the election was 314,472, the total number of valid votes was 308,171, and the total number of votes that were disqualified was 6301.

According to him, 1703 votes were thrown out because they were cast more than once, which broke the rules of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS).

In the meantime, the Chairman of INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, announced that they would be pausing the process of collating the votes, noting that the results for only Ekiti State were currently available.

As a result, he divulged the information that the collation of the results will pick back up on today at 11 a.m.
