Next NDC Govt will put National Cathedral Project on hold – Sammy Gyamfi

Sammy Gyamfi, the National Communications Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has stated that the NDC’s subsequent administration will not in any manner proceed with the construction of the National Cathedral.

According to him, there have been a number of inconsistencies and fraudulent acts involving the project, and the NDC cannot be affiliated with them in any way.

When Mr. Gyamfi was questioned on the Dwaso Nsem show on Adom FM if the NDC will continue the project that is being billed as a national monument, he responded with these comments.

Sammy Gyamfi added that the undertaking will be shelved as soon as the NDC secures victory in the 2024 election, something that he expressed confidence would occur.

“In what ways shall we proceed?” What is this dishonest behavior? Once we have gained power, there will be a forensic examination of everyone who has spent money in the name of this cathedral. Illegal payments, as well as any violations of legislation or due diligence, will result in some of us calling for criminal prosecution of these individuals, he added.

Sammy Gyamfi went on to say that it is a shame that the project, which was to be built to the glory of God, has been dented with several deceptions and that the many well-known men of God have been dragged into disrepute. He added that it is a shame that the project was to be built to the glory of God.

A promise that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo made to God prior to the 2016 general election was for the construction of the National Cathedral.

Sammy Gyamfi stated that the funding for the project will come from the Christian community, despite the fact that he referred to it as a “priority among priorities” and that its first budget was estimated to be $100 million.

We have been open and honest about expenditures at the National Cathedral—a member of the Board of Trustees

A number of debates have contributed to the sum’s meteoric rise throughout the years, during which it has almost reached 400 million dollars.

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, who has been on a campaign to uncover what he calls “rot” at the National Cathedral Secretariat, has, over the past several weeks, revealed damaging disclosures. Ablakwa has been on this crusade for quite some time.

The legislator said that a sum of around GH2.6 million was given to a firm controlled by a board member of the cathedral, Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng, without appropriate reason about a week ago and has referred the matter to CHRAJ for investigation.

Since then, the Secretariat has refuted the charges, claiming that the money in question was a zero-interest loan that was paid back to the man of God, who is currently in legal trouble.
