NDC thankful to Mahama and others for raising over GH¢1m MoMo for congress

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) would like to take this opportunity to thank former President John Dramani Mahama and everyone else who contributed to the 10th National Delegates Congress fundraising effort.

The Congress, which was supposed to take place in the Accra Sports Stadium on December 17th, was plagued by organizational challenges due to financial constraints. As a result, some prominent members of the party started campaigns to raise money.

One of them, Mr. Mahama, who has served as head of the party three times, has called on all citizens of Ghana, and especially members of the party, to give at least GH10 to support the event.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) revealed on Friday, December 16, that a grand total of GH1,083,000 was collected through contributions made through Mobile Money in a statement that was sent by the National Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi.

“The party wishes to congratulate all Ghanaians who donated their widow's mite to what is anticipated to be a momentous Congress on Saturday,” the statement said.

In the announcement, it said, “The Planning Committee would also like to thank the many people who gave gifts to the Congress but don't want to be known.”

There was further appreciation for the previous president, who is claimed to have supported the 10th Youth and Women's Conference that took place on Saturday, December 10 at the University of Cape Coast. The conference was held on December 10 (UCC).

It is also reported that he made up for the gap in the budget for the Congress that took place on Saturday.

“The party wishes to express its utmost gratitude to the people of Ghana, the former president, and all of his kind sponsors for their ongoing support.”
