NDC Polls: Check out when and where Mahama will give formal acceptance speech after victory

Former President John Dramani Mahama has declared that he will give a complete acceptance speech following his victory in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential primaries on Saturday, May 13.

Mr. Mahama received 297,603 votes, or 98.9% of all valid ballots cast, becoming the NDC’s flagbearer-elect, whereas Kojo Bonsu received 3,181 votes, or 1.1% of the total.

Just a day before the election, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor announced his withdrawal from the contest.

“I want to thank my campaign and operational teams for keeping their focus and delivering a clean campaign,” he said in a statement following the elections.

“I appreciate all of our religious and traditional leaders who prayed on our behalf for the peace and success we have attained today. I also thank our funders and financiers for their support, as well as the media for spreading our message.

“I will join a thronging number of the rank and file of the NDC and Ghanaians in general to deliver my formal acceptance speech at the University for Development Studies (UDS) in Tamale on Monday.”

NDC Polls: Mahama to give acceptance speech

Here is his complete statement:

In addition to the excellent people of Ghana, fellow Akatamansonians

The results of the 2024 presidential primaries were formally announced some time ago.

The party’s resounding vote of confidence in me has made me feel humble.

I want to give God praise for the victory He gave the NDC. It can only be through God’s special mercy that we have been traveling the country for all these days, weeks, and months without any fatalities.

My sincere appreciation goes out to the party’s delegates for their cordial reception, engaged involvement, and support throughout my tour.

You participated in the nationwide voting for our party’s presidential and parliamentary candidates in your customary wise fashion.

I also want to express my gratitude to Mr. Kojo Bonsu and Dr. Kwabena Duffuor for their contest. I also like to thank Mr. Ernest Kobea for supporting me in this competition by withdrawing. Their participation in this primary has solidified our party’s enviable reputation as the nation’s most democratic political tradition.

Let’s disagree to reach an understanding, but let’s keep our collective focus firmly fixed on the NDC’s ultimate goal of guiding Ghana out of the current predicament.

I also want assistance from each elected member of parliament, as well as from their fans and rivals in the constituencies. There are no individual winners or losers in this intra-party competition, so our party is the winner.

My campaign and operations teams deserve my gratitude for maintaining their composure and completing a flawless campaign.

I thank all of our religious and traditional leaders who prayed for the peace and success we have today, as well as our donors and financiers for their support, the media for spreading our message, and our donors and financiers.

I will join a throng of NDC members and Ghanaians in general on Monday at the University for Development Studies (UDS) in Tamale to give my formal acceptance speech.

Hello from Tamale.
God bless us all, and I appreciate your consideration.
