The board chairman, Apostle Professor Opoku Onyinah, has announced that the construction of the National Cathedral will soon resume.
A meeting took place on September 20 between the Board of Directors of the National Cathedral of Ghana and auditors from the audit firm Deloitte, during which the announcement was made.
In the meeting, church leaders received an overview of the statutory audit report, detailing the financial activities of the project from its beginning until December 31, 2020.
National Cathedral construction to resume
Deloitte Ghana successfully finalized the audit, offering insight into the project’s financial transactions.
The board initiated the audit in response to public concerns regarding alleged corruption and questionable spending associated with the cathedral’s construction.
The choice to permit an independent review was made to tackle these allegations and promote transparency.
Apostle Onyinah confirmed in a statement issued on September 24 that the audit report is now complete.
This advancement clears the path for the project’s construction to resume following delays attributed to financial examination.
Now that the audit has been completed, the board is anticipated to proceed with construction, tackling the issues brought up by the public and rebuilding trust in the project.
