Mena Efua, a 35-year-old mother, is accused of selling her two-week-old baby for GHC300 in Nkotompo, a neighborhood in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis of the Western Region.
Maame Esi, the suspect’s sister, told Nhyiraba Paa Kwesi Simpson, the host of Connect FM’s Omanbapa Morning Show, that she assisted her sister in giving birth last Monday, but the baby has since vanished.

“I helped her deliver last Monday at home. The baby is still missing after a week. I probed her, and she admitted to giving the baby to an unknown person for GHC300 but refused to reveal the person’s identity.
She says that her sister originally admitted to giving the kid to a nurse who promised to find her a buyer, but has refused to identify the nurse.
“Initially, she said she gave the kid to a nurse who offered to sell it for her, but she has refused to identify her. She now says the infant is in Accra, but she can’t tell us where exactly. “We are currently seeking assistance in locating the baby,” she continued.
According to the elder sister, the baby’s whereabouts have been unknown for about three weeks following delivery.
According to Connect FM, Mena Efua gave the infant to someone who claimed to find her a buyer. However, the individual only returned with GHC300 after trading the baby.
The issue was initially reported at the Sekondi Police Station and was sent to the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU).
Further checks at the Regional DOVVSU office by the Connect FM Morning Show team reveal that police have begun their investigation into the case.
