Eric Opoku, Minister for Food and Agriculture, has allegedly reaffirmed his desire to run for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearership in the 2028 general elections.
Broadcast journalist Omanhene Kwabena Asante revealed on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show that the Minister for Food and Agriculture has already made his decision.
He also said that former Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, a native of the Eastern Region, has expressed interest in leading the party in the next presidential election.
“It’s confirmed. Eric Opoku, a fellow Ahafo man, will compete. “Julius Debrah from the Eastern Region will also compete,” Omanhene said.
The development foreshadows a forthcoming internal fight within the NDC, as the party prepares for life after President John Dramani Mahama’s likely second term.
