President John Dramani Mahama has suspended Divine Selasi Agbeti, Director-General of the National Cyber Security Authority (NCSA), for two weeks due to alleged wrongdoing involving a uniformed military member.

The suspension followed allegations that Mr. Agbeti employed the military officer as a personal bodyguard during public engagements without proper approval, raising concerns about protocol violations and national security protocols.

According to insiders, the decision has sparked severe concerns among security professionals.

A letter signed by Dr. Callistus Mahama, Secretary to the President, and dated July 15, 2025, expressed the presidency’s severe opposition to Mr. Agbeti’s activities.

The government labelled his actions as “inappropriate and embarrassing to the government.”

Government insiders suggest that ongoing internal investigations may lead to further disciplinary action.

In March 2025, Mr. Agbeti succeeded Dr. Albert Antwi-Boasiako, who had led the Cyber Security Authority since 2017.
